Powder Metallurgy
Powder metallurgy (P/M) is a process used to form metal parts by heating compacted metal powders to just below their melting points. At OMG, our P/M business is comprised of five major industries: hardmetals (aka cemented carbides), diamond tools, magnets, thermal spray and powder metallurgy.
OMG produces both fine and coarse cobalt powders, generating a growing list of materials to meet your needs. The powders we provide enable our customers to utilize the various P/M processes, such as press-and-sinter, injection molding, isostatic pressing and powder forging. Using OMG’s cobalt powders, along with the various P/M processes, enables our customers to take advantage of the benefits that the P/M process truly offers. These benefits include improved material utilization, the ability to produce complex components and lower costs.
OMG offers waxed or granulated cobalt powders to help provide a safer working environment by reducing dust levels for our customers. A recycling program is also available to help the environment and assist in maintaining costs.
When you think of P/M, think OMG!
