DRC social responsibility program
The Big Hill is a cobalt processing project in Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). The project is owned by GTL, a joint venture established in 1997 to transform a more than 325-feet-high waste heap from 70 years of copper mining into value-added industrial material. U.S.-based OM Group is the majority owner of the joint venture, which also includes Group George Forrest of Belgium/DRC and Gécamines, a locally based mining entity.

Sustainability and our Products
Several of the products produced by OMG are an inherent part of very important sustainable technologies. A leading example is the battery materials we manufacture, which are essential to several forms of portable power technologies. Other OMG products contribute to improved energy efficiency, reduced emissions and more effective resource utilization.
