Cobalt carboxylates are widely used in the tire industry as rubber adhesion promoters. These products improve the bonding of rubber to steel in steel-belted radial tires and steel-reinforced conveyor belts and hoses.
Cobalt carboxylates provide a highly rubber-soluble form of Cobalt that serves as a chemical adhesive, bonding with sulphur in both the vulcanized rubber and the sulphided brass coating of the steel cord. Improved heat-aged and humid-aged adhesion are significant benefits to be realized with OMG Cobalt rubber adhesion promoters.
